The beauty of our program is that it is flexible enough to meet children where they are in any given subject and take them where they want to go. Grade placement assessments, completed as part of the enrollment process, allow us to place your student in the appropriate level of curriculum. So, for example, if your fourth grader is doing math on a sixth-grade level and reading on a fourth-grade level, we can tailor your curriculum and lesson plans to meet his or her abilities. Starting in 8th grade, students also have the option of dual enrollment to start earning college credit.

Depending on a child’s Individualized Education Program, we can tailor our curriculum to meet your needs. To discuss your child’s needs with us, please contact our office and we will put you in touch with our special education team.

Typically students need to show proof of residency and proof of age, but requirements vary depending on your student’s situation. Our enrollment consultants can help determine exactly which documents you’ll need. Get in touch by calling 541.751.3003.

Incoming kindergarteners must be five years old by September 1 of the upcoming school year in order to enroll.

The state of Oregon law (OAR 581-026-0310) states that a student may be denied enrollment into a virtual school if more than 3% of a district’s student population is currently enrolled in an online school. If a family is notified by their local district that their student’s enrollment has been denied the family may request an appeal.

Kindergarten at EVA is full-time. At this time we do not offer a part-time Kindergarten curriculum.

EVA doesn’t offer a four-year-old kindergarten program. Children must be age five on or before September 1 in order to participate.

The school calendar includes school “holidays” or vacation time. Whenever possible, family vacations should align with school vacation days. If a student skips a day during the week, he or she will be marked absent. Vacation is not an approved reason for absence in the state of Oregon. Families must notify their teachers of any absences.

Parents can apply for “Educational Leave of Absences” during the school year. Requests must be submitted to the Head of School 10 days before the absence. Leave will be approved based upon consistent student progress and attendance. No educational leave will be granted during any of the testing windows for state-mandated testing.

Yes. Students must have an attendance contact each day with their teachers every day. This is captured by attending live instructional sessions.

Because EVA is a public charter school program, there is no tuition cost. EVA provides an Oregon-licensed teacher and all instructional materials for the program, including a computer if necessary. However, students and families will be responsible for providing some consumable materials (such as printer ink and paper).

Because the Evergreen Virtual Academy provides all of the lesson plans and materials needed, many parents find it easy to enroll multiple children in the program. There are currently families with as many as five children in similar online programs using our curriculum that are being guided by one Learning Coach in conjunction with the support of their schools’ teachers.

Pursuant to statute, the Evergreen Virtual Academy is a public school and does not have to accept students who have been expelled from another Oregon public school. Students who have been expelled from an Oregon public school and submit an enrollment application to EVA will be considered on an individual basis. Parents are responsible for informing EVA if their students have been expelled from school upon initial submission of the enrollment application.

The Evergreen Virtual Academy provides a full-time, comprehensive academic program. Dual attendance is possible but prior approval from the resident district is required before the student will be permitted to attend EVA.

Students in grades K–12 who reside in Oregon are eligible to attend the Evergreen Virtual Academy.
